“Tracy’s Kids is a refuge”

Tracy’s Kids is a refuge and needed distraction for families absorbing a flood of emotions.  In helping us navigate this traumatic period, you instilled invaluable coping skills and resilience that will remain with us well into the future.”

– Michael, the father of Jake, a two-year-old patient at Children’s National, Sept. 2016

The Tracy’s Kids 2015 Annual Report describes a year of growth and continued impact.  Thanks to generous support from donors, Tracy’s Kids was able to provide nearly 10,000 art therapy sessions at five sites.  We opened a new site at Inova Fairfax Children’s Hospital, and we enjoyed celebrity visits from a famous artists, NFL and NHL players.  But, as usual, our inspiration comes from the amazing children we serve and their families!

Tracy’s Kids’ Ability to Reach Adolescents

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at our San Antonio site explains how critical our Art Therapist is to adolescents in treatment:

“Adolescents see the Art Therapist as an adult who is “safe.”  She is different from a parent, doctor, or nurse and over time becomes a trusted friend.  The discretion and professionalism Courtney provides along with the therapy enables the teen to better cope with the illness and side effects, as well as the fears, separation from their social network, and concern for how the cancer is impacting their loved ones.”
